Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian silver scent flask is a small, decorative container designed to hold liquid perfume, fragrance, or smelling salts. Popular during the 19th century, these vessels were designed either for display on a vanity table or for carrying in a pocket or purse.

Victorian scent flasks were typically made from sterling silver, cut glass, porcelain, or crystal, often featuring hand-engraved, repousse, or fluted metalwork. Silver examples were raised or cast by silversmiths and finished with fitted screw-cap or hinged stoppers.

Authentic British sterling silver scent flasks feature official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for silver purity, a date letter, a town mark, and a makers mark. The weight, hand-finished detailing, and age-appropriate surface wear also distinguish period originals from modern reproductions.

An antique silver scent flask can be styled on a bedside table, dressing table tray, or bathroom vanity alongside small glass bottles and trinket dishes. Arranging it on a mirrored or marble surface enhances the light reflected from the polished silver finish.

Maintain silver scent flasks by dusting them regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and using a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish. Avoid submerging the flask completely in water or using harsh chemical cleaners, which can degrade inner seals or silver detail.
