Tea caddy spoons became widely popular in the 18th and 19th centuries as specialized utensils designed to measure loose tea leaves from a caddy into a teapot, evolving into highly decorative items during the Victorian era.

Authentic period pieces were predominantly handcrafted from sterling silver using techniques such as casting, hammering, chasing, and twisted wirework, often featuring detailed decorative terminals.

Authenticity is determined by examining the hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include the makers mark, a standard mark for sterling silver, a date letter, and a duty mark indicating the monarchs reign.

These small items can be displayed within glass cabinets, arranged on a silver tray, or styled on a sideboard alongside other vintage tableware for a refined, historic touch.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using a gentle, non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to maintain its patina, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage intricate detailing.
