Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

  • MotifsCluster halo setting, Oval cabochon cut, Claw settings

Mid-century jewellery design frequently utilised cluster settings to maximise the visual impact of central gemstones like opals, surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds to create a halo effect that reflects post-war optimism and luxury.

These rings typically feature an 18-carat yellow gold shank paired with platinum settings for the gemstone claws, providing a secure and contrasting white backdrop that enhances the brilliance of the diamonds.

Authentic pieces from this era often exhibit hand-beaten or claw settings characteristic of mid-twentieth-century craftsmanship, alongside hallmarks indicating gold purity and platinum composition.

This piece can be worn as a standalone statement cocktail ring or paired delicately with minimalist modern bands to let the colourful play-of-colour in the opal take centre stage.

Opals contain natural water content and are softer than diamonds, so they should be protected from harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and extreme temperature changes, requiring gentle cleaning with a soft cloth.
