Fabulous George VI Silver & Guilloche Enamel Compact by Turner & Simpson, Birmingham 1946

1920 - 1940
Description

This elegant silver mounted vivid green enamel compact is dated Birmingham 1946 and bears the marks of Turner & Simpson. . It is a large example, measuring 3 inches diameter. It is of circular form with sunburst decorations emanating from semi-circular flower head. The hinged cover opening to reveal the original mirror and removable attachment for powder fitted in a receptacle. The back with engine-turned decorations.

Hallmarks:

T&S for Turner & Simpson.

Birmingham Assay mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "X" for 1946.

Dimensions:

8cm diameter / 3.2 inches.

Condition:

Very good.

Enamel in very good shiny condition.

Back in very good condition, no dents, minor surface wear, commensurate with age.

Interior in equally good condition.

Snaps shuts nicely.
