We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Edwardian silver animal figures gained popularity during the early 20th century, often manufactured as novelty items or desk ornaments by silversmiths in Birmingham and London.

These figures were typically crafted from solid sterling silver using traditional casting methods, often finished with hand-chased details and standard British hallmarks to indicate purity and assay office origin.

Authentic pieces feature clear British hallmarks stamped directly onto the metal, indicating the assay office, date letter, and sterling standard lion passant, alongside appropriate surface patination consistent with age.

They can be displayed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table as a focal point among books and modern objects, adding a layer of historical character and refined texture to the space.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly with a soft microfiber cloth and a mild, non-abrasive silver polish to preserve the underlying details and natural oxidisation in recessed areas.
