The blown stems have air teardrop detail and are raised on similarly decorated circular feet. One glass marked to the underside of the foot in gold ‘Josephinenhutte’ with a Crown. Superb quality and detail. C 1890. Approximately 20cm tall and in excellent original condition

History
Josephinenhütte, a renowned Silesian glassworks, was founded in 1842 by Count Leopold von Schaffgotsch and named after his wife, Josephine The factory was based in the Sudetan Mountains in Silesia. It was renowned for High-quality, beautiful glassware, particularly Venetian-inspired designs. It closed in the mid 20th century and it was revived with a focus on modern designs by three friends who partnered with renowned glassmaker Kurt Josef Zalto
