Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Late 19th-century American silver servers frequently incorporated neoclassical revival motifs, hand-engraved floral patterns, and personalized family crests, reflecting the opulent dining culture of the Gilded Age.

These items were typically crafted from solid sterling silver, adhering to the strict 925 purity standard, often shaped through a combination of hand-hammering, die-stamping, and intricate hand-chasing or engraving.

Authenticity is determined by makers marks, purity stamps such as sterling, period-appropriate wear patterns, weight, and the crispness of the hand-engraving relative to machine-tooled modern reproductions.

Such pieces can be displayed in glass-fronted cabinets, mounted in shadow boxes, or utilized functionally within modern tablescapes to add historical contrast and reflective metallic texture.

Preservation requires storing items in tarnish-preventing cloth, washing with mild phosphate-free soap when necessary, and avoiding harsh abrasive dips that strip the desirable original patination.
