We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French hanging lanterns traditionally feature refined metalwork, often in brass, bronze, or gilt finishes, combined with glass panes designed to illuminate hallways and vestibules with balanced elegance.

Authentic period lanterns are typically constructed from cast brass, bronze, or gilt metal frames fitted with curved or flat glass panels, housing internal candle-style or electric lamp holders.

Identification involves examining the construction methods, such as hand-cast metal joints, patination consistent with age, hand-blown or cylinder glass panels, and period-appropriate wiring or socket types.

Suspending the fixture in an entryway, hallway, or above a dining space introduces metallic warmth and architectural contrast that complements both contemporary and classic design schemes.

Metal components should be dusted gently with a dry microfibre cloth to protect the finish, avoiding harsh chemical polishes, while glass panels can be cleaned with a mild glass cleaner applied to a cloth rather than sprayed directly.
