A beautiful Victorian 15ct gold almandine garnet brooch made circa 1860.Crafted from solid 15ct gold (not marked but tested) it features 9 shimmering deep red/purply flat cut almandine garnets on its intricately decorated body which is folded into a relaxed wonderfully detailed knot. The gold surface has been chased and engraved with a foliate motif. The Victorian era was full of symbolism, and this brooch once would have been not just a piece of jewellery but would have symbolised a loving bond, such as marriage and most likely was a gift of love.Dimensions: 34?24 mm, 9 flat cut almandine garnets - 5?4 mm, total weight of the brooch 4.2 grams.Condition: excellent condition, all stones are original and present, the old c-type clasp in good working order (the needle is not gold).N.B.
