Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian silver and oak humidor is a specialised storage vessel manufactured during the early 20th century to hold tobacco. These objects combined turned timber bases with hallmarked sterling silver covers for desktop display.

These pieces traditionally feature a turned oak base paired with a hallmarked sterling silver lid. The metal covers often display embossed thistle motifs and are occasionally set with faceted cairngorm or citrine stones.

Authenticity is verified through British silver hallmarks stamped into the metal, indicating the maker, assay office, sterling purity, and date letter from 1901 to 1910. The timber base should exhibit natural wood grain and construction methods matching the period.

An antique humidor functions as a decorative storage container on an office desk, bookshelf, or sideboard. It can hold paperclips or small personal items while adding historical character to a workspace.

The sterling silver top should be cleaned using a soft cloth and dedicated silver polish, avoiding contact with the timber. The turned oak base requires regular dusting and an occasional application of clear beeswax to protect the wood.
