Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Edwardian novelty silver pin cushions gained immense popularity in the early 20th century, often manufactured in whimsical shapes such as animals, shoes, and vehicles to appeal to affluent Victorian and Edwardian collectors of small silver items.

These pieces typically feature a stamped or cast sterling silver body, hallmarked for purity and date, fitted with a plush velvet, mohair, or silk stuffing cushion designed to securely hold pins and needles.

Authentic pieces bear clear British hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, and makers mark, alongside original stuffing materials and patination consistent with early 20th-century manufacture.

This small silver collectable can be displayed on a vanity tray, dressing table, or within a glass-fronted cabinet to add a touch of historical interest and refined metallic detail to a contemporary space.

To preserve the metal and fabric, store the piece away from direct sunlight and high humidity, clean the silver sparingly with a specialised non-abrasive cloth, and avoid getting moisture on the internal cushion.
