An Exceptional Quality And Rarely Found, 18th Century Georgian Chippendale Period Mahogany Library Bookcase Cupboard, Having Greek Key Carved Decoration To Cornice, Over Two Superbly Figured Panelled Cupboard Doors, Enclosing Three Adjustable Shelves, And Secretaire Writing Drawer With Fitted Interior Plus Three Long Drawers With Original Brass Swan Neck Handles To Base, Raised On Original Shaped Bracket Feet.

This fabulous 18th century mahogany library bookcase is a great example of 18th century cabinet making. Its construction is of the highest quality and all of the materials which have been used are the best that money would have been able to buy at the time.

As a result of the careful consideration in terms of design and the highly figured, rich mahogany timbers used, the bookcase boasts incredible elegance for a piece of furniture with such presence. Of course from a practical perspective the bookcase is a great size and boasts a huge amount of functional storage space.

It still retains its original brass swan neck handles as well as its original shaped bracket feet, which is a great feature and the solid blind panel doors are something much less frequently found than the more common astragal glazed variations.

Of course the bookcase has also retained a quite wonderful untouched colour and patina and just like all of the object which we offer for sale it has received a natural wax polish in our workshops to ensure it is in the best possible condition for placement straight into a home of office before being places on sale.

This 18th century Georgian Chippendale library bookcase is constructed from dark reddish-brown mahogany with a wax-polished finish. The upper section comprises a Greek key carved moulded cornice above two cupboard doors with flame mahogany panels, fitted with keyhole escutcheons. The lower chest section contains four graduated drawers fitted with original brass swan-neck handles and keyholes, raised on shaped bracket feet. The dimensions are 104 cm wide by 60 cm deep by 212 cm high.
