We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau emerged in the late 19th century, characterised by organic motifs, flowing lines inspired by nature, and a rejection of historic revival styles. Silversmiths of this era embraced asymmetric forms and stylised plant motifs to create fluid, sculptural objects.

Edwardian caddies were predominantly crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as spinning, hammering, and casting. Details like applied mounts and feet were individually cast and soldered, while hallmarks were stamped to verify the metal purity and assay office.

Authentic pieces bear a clear set of British hallmarks, including the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the town assay office mark, and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture, such as 1908.

An antique silver caddy can be displayed on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or open shelving to introduce metallic texture and historical contrast. Its reflective surface pairs well with contemporary ceramics, minimalist trays, or dark wood finishes.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth to remove tarnish while preserving the original patina. Avoid harsh chemical dips, and store items in a dry, low-humidity environment away from direct sunlight.
