Celery vases became popular in the 19th century when celery was considered a luxury status vegetable, traditionally displayed upright on the dining table in specialised tall vessels.

These pieces are typically crafted from lead crystal or flint glass, shaped using blown moulding techniques and finished with hand-cut, wheel-engraved, or pressed decorative motifs.

Authentic period glassware often exhibits pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear or scratching consistent with age, and slight variations in thickness and clarity typical of hand production.

They can be utilised functionally as traditional flower vases or displayed as decorative objects on open shelving, sideboards, or mantels to add historic texture and transparent elegance.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild dish soap with a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock.
