The George V period, spanning from 1910 to 1936, often featured a revival of classical motifs alongside early 20th-century craftsmanship, heavily influenced by Edwardian elegance and transitional arts.

These frames typically consist of a thin sheet of sterling silver shaped over a wooden or papier-mache core, supported by a wooden back panel covered in velvet or fabric, often featuring easel stands.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the town assay office mark, and a date letter.

Mixing period metal accents with modern minimalist furniture or placing the piece on a polished wood mantelpiece creates a sophisticated contrast between historical craftsmanship and current design.

Maintenance requires gentle cleaning with a specialised non-abrasive silver cloth to preserve the patina and details, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip the original finish and hallmark impressions.
