Muller Frčres (Co.) was an esteemed French glassmaking company based in Luneville, France, famous for its Art Nouveau and Art Deco vases, lampshades, and chandeliers, which often incorporate layered and coloured glass. Their workshop was established by Henri Muller and his brothers in 1895 after they trained with Émile Gallé – who would retain a grudge against Muller for setting up a rival enterprise. In 1910, the company began making lamps in association with Chapelle and, at its height, employed around 300 workers. The company’s lamps – largely characterized by elegantly crafted natural-world motifs and subtle, flowing, organic forms suggested by flowers and plants – are highly sought after and make for distinctive additions to any space. Production stopped in 1933 and the factory closed three years later, a victim of the Great Depression.
