We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A loving cup is a traditional two-handled vessel used historically at banquets, weddings, and formal ceremonies for shared toasts, symbolizing friendship and unity.

19th-century loving cups were typically crafted from electroplated nickel silver or Sheffield plate, frequently featuring a gilding layer inside the bowl to protect the base metal from corrosion caused by acidic liquids.

Authentic pieces often feature period electroplate hallmarks or makers marks, copper or base metal showing through high-wear areas, hand-engraved monograms, and cast handles attached with visible joinery.

An antique silver loving cup can be displayed on a sideboard top, bookshelf, or mantelpiece as a decorative centrepiece, or utilised as a vessel for dried floral arrangements.

Clean gently using a soft cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding abrasive scrubbers on the delicate gilt interior, and store in a low-humidity environment to prevent oxidisation.
