Georgian caddy spoons were developed in the late 18th and early 19th centuries as specialized implements for measuring loose tea leaves from a caddy into a teapot, becoming a canvas for diverse silversmithing designs.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as die-stamping, hand-engraving, chasing, and occasionally filigree work by skilled British silversmiths.

Authentic pieces are identified through clear hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, lion passant for sterling standard, and the makers mark, alongside period-appropriate wear and construction.

These small items can be showcased within glass-fronted cabinets, shadow boxes, or arranged on decorative trays alongside other period silver collectibles.

Preservation requires minimal cleaning using specialized non-abrasive silver cloth, avoiding harsh dips that strip the natural patina and historical oxidisation.
