Victorian cranberry glass, sometimes known as ruby or gold pink glass, is characterised by its distinct red-pink hue achieved by adding gold chloride to the molten glass batch. It gained immense popularity during the Victorian era for decorative tableware and drinkware.

These items were crafted using traditional glassblowing techniques, often incorporating lead or soda-lime glass formulations combined with refined mineral pigments. Stemware typically featured hand-blown bowls fused to applied feet or distinct faceted stems.

Authentic pieces often exhibit subtle irregularities such as pontil marks on the base, tiny trapped air bubbles within the glass matrix, and hand-finished details. The depth of the colour can also vary slightly depending on the exact gold content and thermal processing.

Such pieces add vibrant pops of colour and historical texture when displayed on a bar cart, open shelving, or a dining table centrepiece. They bridge traditional and modern aesthetics by introducing rich tones and tactile craftsmanship.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock. Never place these fragile items in a dishwasher.
