We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver with an 830 fineness standard contains 83% pure silver and was widely used in Scandinavian countries, particularly Denmark and Norway, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries before the international standard of 925 sterling silver became universally adopted.

Antique nutcrackers were typically forged or cast from metals such as silver, brass, or steel, often featuring ergonomic lever designs, ribbed interior jaws for grip, and hinged joints secured by a central pin.

Authenticity is verified by examining the metal for appropriate hallmarks, makers marks, and silver standard stamps (such as 830S), alongside assessing natural patina, wear patterns, and traditional manufacturing techniques consistent with the period.

Antique silver items can be displayed as functional dining table centrepieces, arranged on silver trays on sideboards, or integrated into tablescapes to add metallic texture, historical depth, and refined contrast to contemporary settings.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a specialist non-abrasive silver polish to preserve the underlying metal and subtle patina, and stored in a dry environment away from direct sunlight and humidity.
