They can be utilised functionally for formal dining arrangements or displayed as polished metallic accents within a cabinet or on a sideboard to add historical contrast to contemporary decor.

Antique silver should be stored in tarnish-resistant cloth, kept away from high humidity, and cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth to preserve the original patina and fine engravings.

Authenticity is verified through official hallmarks stamped into the metal, which typically indicate the makers mark, the standard of silver (such as the lion passant for British sterling), and a date letter corresponding to the assay office records.

These items are generally crafted from solid sterling silver, often decorated using a lathe-operated mechanical engraving technique known as engine turning to produce precise, repeating patterns.

Art Deco silver typically features geometric motifs, clean lines, and engine-turned patterns, reflecting the modern machinery and industrial progress of the 1920s and 1930s.
