FAQs

Eighteenth-century drinking glasses typically feature hand-blown lead crystal construction, distinct stem formations such as air twists or facet cuts, and deep conical bowls characteristic of the Georgian period.

These pieces were produced using potash-lead glass, hand-blown into iron moulds or free-blown, and finished with hand-cut facets along the stems using abrasive wheels.

Authentic items display subtle irregularities from handcrafting, pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, and the high refractive index characteristic of early lead glass.

Display these delicate items within glass-fronted cabinets, open shelving, or on mirrored trays to highlight their reflective qualities and historical texture.

Wash pieces by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes, harsh chemicals, and mechanical dishwashers to protect the delicate surface.
