18th Century Friendship Engraved Light Baluster Wine Glass C1745

Technical Description
 
A very fine 18th-century Light Baluster wine glass dating to c1745. It has a large round funnel bowl engraved with two hands reaching out of the clouds, holding a thorny wreath, one hand pointing at the other. The clouds are flanked by olive branches, the branches tied in a knot at the base. Finally the words ''PLUTOT MOURIR QUE MANQUER DE FOY'' (I would Rather Die than Show Lack of Faith) are engraved within a long streaming flag or banderole.
 
A fine stem reflecting the message of the glass with small baluster and inverted baluster knops. Conical foot.

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips, cracks or restoration.
