Art Deco jewellery emerged around 1915, characterised by geometric symmetry, clean lines, stylised motifs, and a strong contrast between precious metals and vibrant gemstones.

Jewellery from this transitional period frequently combined platinum-topped gold settings, hand-cut diamonds in old European or single cuts, and unheated natural gemstones like Ceylon sapphires.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-forged or milled metalwork, characteristic claw or bezel settings appropriate to the period, natural inclusions within the sapphire under magnification, and genuine hand-cut diamonds with irregular facet patterns.

An antique cocktail ring serves as a striking focal point and pairs effectively with minimalist contemporary attire or layered alongside delicate modern stackable bands for a curated look.

Preserve antique rings by avoiding harsh ultrasonic cleaners, removing them during manual tasks, storing them in individual soft-lined compartments, and having professional settings checked annually.
