Slice cut ale glasses are historic drinking vessels characterised by their long bowls decorated with broad, vertical concave cuts, popular during the 18th and 19th centuries for serving ales and beers.

These glasses were typically hand-blown from lead glass or flint glass, featuring hand-cut facets created using a rotating wheel followed by manual polishing.

Authenticity is identified by examining the metal of the glass for tiny inclusions, air bubbles, pontil marks on the underside of the base, and characteristic wear and tear consistent with age.

Antique glassware can be displayed inside glass-fronted cabinets, used on bar carts for styling, or incorporated into open shelving to add historical texture to a contemporary room.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and never placing them in a dishwasher.
