The domed lid includes pierced holes for dispensing and is topped with a finial. The engraved initials and date on the body suggest it was likely a commemorative or personal gift, reflecting the craftsmanship and artistry of the Victorian silver-making tradition.
Made by the renowned silversmith George Unite, the piece is fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1857. Unite produced an impressive range of high-quality silverware, and this item is an excellent example of his work.
