Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Youngs Antiques

A pair of mid 17th century brass Heemskerk candlesticks originating from Holland, and possibly made for the English market. These particular type of Heemskerk were made in four sections, the decorative socket with ridged ball knop stems, a slight concave dish to catch the wax and shallow stepped low bell base, these sections are then rivetted on the underside via a bar, which holds them all together. One of the sticks has been repaired at some stage, having a threaded bar let in to fix the two sections of stem through the drip dish. Both candlesticks are solid, and are in excellent condition.
