Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Kazak Wool Rug to the 1880s.
Woven by semi-nomadic shepherds of the region. They are principally antique, though a limited number are still being made in the area today. This rug has rich deep colours, assertive, geometric drawing and a bold large-scale design. Please view all the additional images to see the natural dyes up close, and the rugs condition too.

They have earned themselves a reputation of being hard wearing and resistant to damage. They use fabulous vegetable dyes and high quality hand spun wool from their own herd. Kazak's and rugs from the caucasus are becoming very collectable because of their varied designs and vibrant colours.
