The roemer is a traditional Germanic drinking vessel that evolved from Renaissance-era Rheinish wine glasses, characterised by a large rounded bowl atop a cylindrical stem and a wide conical foot.

These glasses were typically crafted from potash-lime or lead glass, often utilizing forest green or amber glass formulations, and shaped using free-blowing techniques combined with applied molten glass trails for ornamentation.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor irregularities from mouth-blowing, traditional raspberry prunts on the stem, and natural wear consistent with age.

Displaying historical stemware inside a glass-fronted cabinet or on a dedicated bar cart introduces coloured glass accents and tactile historical texture to modern dining spaces.

Antique glass should be washed exclusively by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges to protect the fragile surface.
