Description

Technical Description

A 19th century Nailsea Gimmel flask which has two ovoid shape flasks, back to back with spouts facing in opposite directions. The spouts have blue applied rims, the flasks with white pulled decoration, each one having rigaree decoration down the sides.

Date & Origin

England, c1850. Period of Victoria.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration. Clean and clear.

Height: 24cm Width: 10cm Depth: cm.

Historical Context

Hand-blown around the time Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter was published on the 16th of March 1850.
