Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers WWI Sterling Silver Military Vesta Case Killed 1917

Description

A very interesting English antique solid sterling silver vesta case. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1911 with the maker being Samuel M Levi. It has been engraved 'PTE.G.FETTES 2ND R.INNIS.FUS. YOUNG SOLDIERS A.R.A 1911'. I think Private George Fettes became a Corporal by the start of WWI and was sadly killed in action on the 28th Jan 1917. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures approx. 2 inches (5cm) long by 1.25 inches (3.2cm) wide and weighs 20 grams. An interesting and poignant piece.
