A handsome antique 19th century camphor wood campaign chest dating from circa 1870. With an unusual attractive heart shaped brass escutcheon and original steel lock, the hinged top lifts with a campaign style inset brass handle to reveal ample storage space inside. It has brass strap work and brass corners and it has useful brass carry handles to the sides. In beautifully figured camphorwood with good colour and patina, the top is inscribed BRUST, probably a sea campaign chest, but would now make a wonderful coffee table.
