Victorian glass from the 1870s typically features characteristic manufacturing techniques of the period, including free-blown or mold-blown methods, often displaying pontil marks on the base and heavier lead content in high-quality pieces.

These drinking vessels were primarily crafted from soda-lime glass or lead crystal, depending on the desired clarity, weight, and ring of the material when struck.

Authentic pieces often exhibit minor bubbles, striations, and surface irregularities consistent with hand-crafted production, alongside a rough or polished pontil scar on the underside of the foot.

Such items can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, used as singular decorative accents on a dining table, or utilized for special occasions to add historical texture to contemporary table settings.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding abrasive sponges, sudden temperature changes, and dishwasher cycles to protect the fragile structure and historical surface.
