FAQs

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to prevent cracking. Apply a microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the finish, avoiding silicone-based polishes.

Pair the warm wooden tones with contemporary minimalist seating or neutral walls to create a sophisticated contrast. It serves as an ideal display unit for hardback books, ceramics, and curated collections in a home study or living room.

Authentic pieces feature separate stacking modules, traditional pegged or dovetailed construction, and glass with minor imperfections or bubbles consistent with early manufacturing. Look for makers stamps on the interior backs or sides and genuine patina on the brass fittings.

These pieces are typically constructed from solid oak or mahogany using dovetail joints for the drawers and modular stacking sections. The doors often feature original wavy glass panes held in wooden frames with specialized brass hardware.

A barrister bookcase is a modular, stacking bookcase featuring glass-fronted doors traditionally lifted and slid upwards into the cabinet. It gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for lawyers and professionals who needed to transport and store growing libraries safely.
