Antique glassware must be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a lint-free cloth. It should never be placed in a dishwasher or exposed to rapid temperature fluctuations.

Antique coloured glassware works effectively when displayed within illuminated cabinets, on open shelving, or utilised as accent table pieces to introduce historical depth and vibrant colour contrasts into contemporary spaces.

Authentic pieces generally display characteristic irregularities such as tiny air bubbles, striations within the metal, and a rough or polished pontil scar on the underside of the foot, alongside weight disparities compared to modern machine-made glass.

These items were crafted from lead glass or soda glass, melted in pot furnaces and hand-blown into moulds or free-blown before being shaped with handheld tools. Cobalt and other minerals were added to the molten batch to produce distinct blue hues.

Georgian glassware produced around 1820 typically exhibits hand-blown techniques, deep rich colourations achieved through metallic oxides, and robust pontil marks on the base, reflecting the technological methods of the late Regency era.
