Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Preserve antique ironwork by keeping it in a stable, dry environment free from high humidity, and occasionally treat the surface with a microcrystalline wax to protect against rust while maintaining its historic patina.

This sculptural iron object can be displayed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table to add historical texture and a sense of layered antiquity to minimalist or rustic interior schemes.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-hammered tool marks, uneven surfaces consistent with early blacksmithing techniques, organic wear patterns, and a stable tripod or heavy base with period-appropriate oxidisation.

These pieces were typically hand-forged by local blacksmiths from wrought iron, often featuring a spring-action pincer mechanism counterweighted to hold the rush securely alongside a socket for a tallow candle.

A rush nip is a historical domestic lighting device from the 18th century designed to hold dried rushes dipped in animal fat, which served as an inexpensive source of illumination for rural households.
