Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating from the Akan and Ashanti people of Ghana, these stools traditionally serve as personal symbols of authority, spiritual identity, and social status. Historically, each stool is carved for a specific owner and is believed to hold the soul of the person who uses it.

Authentic Ashanti stools are carved from a single solid block of local hardwood using traditional hand woodworking tools. The design features a curved, crescent-shaped seat resting on a central carved support and a solid rectangular base.

Authentic pieces feature signs of monoxylous carving from a single timber piece, visible adze or chisel marks, natural age-related surface wear, and traditional carved symbols or geometric patterns within the central pillar.

Designers frequently use these stools as sculptural accent objects displayed on sideboards, consoles, or bookshelves. Their strong geometric silhouette and natural timber texture complement modern organic and minimalist interiors.

Keep the timber free of dust using a soft, dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish occasionally to preserve the wood grain. Avoid positioning the piece near direct heat sources or high humidity to prevent cracking.
