A wine rinser is a specialized vessel used during elite dining in the 18th and early 19th centuries to wash wine glasses between courses at the table.

These items were typically hand-blown from lead glass, often featuring deep colourants such as manganese for purple tones, and finished with polished pontil marks.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate characteristics including heavy lead weight, irregular hand-blown bubbles, tiny surface straw marks, and a rough or polished pontil scar on the base.

Such pieces can be utilised as small decorative vessels, planters for succulents, or stylish containers on a sideboard, adding historic depth and rich colour to a scheme.

Antique glass should be hand washed carefully in warm water using mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals and sudden temperature changes to protect the delicate material.
