William IV Ribbed Glass Water Jug C1830

Description

Technical Description

A superb William IV glass water jug dating to c1830. It has a swan neck with rib moulding down the entire length gathering at a polished pontil. Applied handle with a unusually tooled lower terminal.

An excellent example.

Date & Origin

England, c1820. Period of George IV.

Condition

Excellent condition, Tiny pin prick on neck, no chips cracks or restoration. Clean and clear.

Diameter: 16cm

Historical Context

Hand-blown around the time the Irish Royal Navy captain, Edward Bransfield landed on the mainland of Antarctica.
