Antique Victorian Walnut Open Bookcase

19th century
Description

A smart and extremely well made antique Victorian walnut open bookcase. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1880-1890 period.

It is of extremely fine quality, with beautifully grooved edges and a raised gallery on the top. This stands on a plinth base, the walnut colour tones and grain patterns are gorgeous throughout. The shelves are fixed, they have an ususual feature where the tops of the shelf space are hinged and open to widen the area in which you can slot books in.

We have had this re-polished, it is in great condition for its age, with just the right amount of patina.
