Georgian glassware, produced during the reigns of George I through George IV, is characterised by heavy lead metal content, characteristic pontil marks, and handblown manufacturing techniques that often resulted in minor surface bubbles and irregularities.

These pieces were typically crafted using lime glass or lead crystal, shaped via free-blowing or mould-blowing techniques, with stems and bowls fashioned separately before being thermally joined.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the base for a rough snapped pontil mark, checking for microscopic wear scratches from age, analysing the weight and clarity of the glass, and observing any natural asymmetry indicative of manual production.

An antique glass can be displayed as a singular focal point within a glass-fronted cabinet, integrated into a curated table setting, or utilised on a sideboard to introduce historical texture and colour into a modern room.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, dried immediately with a lint-free cloth, and kept away from sudden temperature fluctuations and direct sunlight to prevent thermal shock and chemical degradation.
