Victorian scent bottles often feature elaborate craftsmanship, combining cut or moulded glass with precious metals such as sterling silver, reflecting the eras focus on personal grooming and dressing table elegance.

These items were typically crafted from lead crystal or flint glass, frequently paired with sterling silver caps, gilt metal mounts, and sometimes inner glass stoppers or cork seals.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining hallmarks on the silver mounts, the quality of the hand-cut facets in the glass, and evidence of period wear such as light surface scratches.

These small objects can be displayed on mirrored vanity trays, open shelving, or dressing tables to introduce subtle historical character and reflective texture to a modern room.

Clean glass gently with warm soapy water and use specialised silver polish sparingly on the metal mounts, avoiding abrasive cloths that can damage delicate chased or engraved details.
