Georgian wine glasses from the c1820 period typically feature hand-blown lead glass, distinctive knopped stems, and deep bowl proportions influenced by contemporary tax laws and dining customs.

Coloured Georgian glass was created by adding metallic oxides to the molten glass batch, which was then free-blown into an iron or wooden mould or manipulated by hand using traditional pontil iron techniques.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics such as a rough pontil mark on the underside of the base, subtle surface imperfections or air bubbles within the metal, and consistent wear indicative of age.

Antique coloured stemware can be displayed openly within glazed cabinets, utilised as focal centrepieces on dining tables, or grouped on a sideboard to add depth and historic character to a contemporary scheme.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh chemicals, and dried carefully with a lint-free cloth.
