Large silver bowl and plate ,Iran ,19 th century
The upper margin features a cast silver rim decorated with wave and knop motifs.
The external side is densely engraved by hand with images of Persian soldiers. Adorned by an engraved ornamental stripe above and one below. The inside of the bowl is polished and shiny.
The bowl comes with a large, round flat saucer, which is also made of pure silver. The outer rim shows the same band of wave and knop patterns as the bowl. The upper front features a central round, engraved scene with servants fanning their ruler.
The scene is surrounded by decorative bands and medallions of leafy tendrils. The smooth underside of the saucer shows two hallmarks.
