A Georgian 5 Plank Oak Coffer
These charming chests are known as 5 plank because it takes 5 planks to make one, front, back, top and bottom and the last plank is cut in half to form the sides which need to be half the size of the length of the coffer
The chest is made in solid Oak, the top has a scalloped carving (chip carved) along its edges at the front and the lid of the chest has later carving ( 19th century )
This is a very old piece, it has wonderful character and a very attractive shape
The coffer is 37” long, 16” deep and 22” high
