Enamelled and Gilded Tazza, Attributed to Moser

19th century
Description

This is an enamelled and gilded small tazza, attributed to Moser, and dating from the late 19th century, c1890.

The tazza is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 100+ years of use.

The tazza has a shallow cup-chaped bowl and was blown in clear glass which has been engraved with a pattern of baskets of flowers and flora to the underside that has then been enamelled in blue and gilded. It measures 15.8 cm (6.3 inches) in width at its widest point across the top rim which is also gilded. The bowl sits on a six-sided vertically facet-cut cigar-shaped stem that ends in a gilded plain foot which measures 10.3 cm (4.1 inches) in diameter. The tazza is 19.7 cm (7.9 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. The gilding is rubbed in places.

It weighs in at 385 g. (~ 14 oz.).
