FAQs

Vaseline glass, often incorporating uranium oxide to achieve its characteristic yellow-green hue, became popular during the Victorian era for decorative and functional glassware.

Authentic pieces usually combine mould-blown or pressed opalescent glass with cast brass or gilt metal mounts and galleries.

Genuine pieces often display hand-finished pontil marks, minor inclusions in the glass, and react with a distinct green glow under ultraviolet light due to the presence of uranium content.

Pairing the piece with compatible brass wiring fixtures allows it to serve as a focal point in period renovations or as a contrasting accent within eclectic contemporary spaces.

Clean the glass gently using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical abrasives that could damage the metal mounts or the historic glass surface.
