Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Blanc de chine refers to a category of white porcelain originating from Dehua, China, during the Ming dynasty, recognised by its bright white body and translucent glaze. European factories, including several notable nineteenth-century German workshops, later adopted this undecorated aesthetic to highlight intricate sculptured figures and floral motifs.

These items are made from hard-paste porcelain, formed using plaster moulds combined with hand-sculpted applied components like figures and flowers. The assembled greenware is coated in a clear glaze before undergoing high-temperature kiln firing to fuse the clay body and surface finish into a solid, non-porous ceramic.

Authentic Sitzendorf items frequently feature maker marks under the glaze on the underside, such as the crown over S mark used towards the end of the nineteenth century. Examination of the crispness of the moulded figures and the hand-applied detail of delicate ceramic petals can also help distinguish period items from modern mass-produced copies.

Placing a pair of white porcelain candlesticks symmetrically on a mantelpiece, dining table centre, or console table provides structured height and sculptural interest. The monochrome white palette allows these classical decorative items to integrate seamlessly into modern neutral schemes, transitional interiors, or maximalist displays.

Clean delicate ceramic pieces using warm water and mild liquid soap applied gently with a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from crevices. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, automated dishwashers, or sudden temperature changes, which can fracture delicate floral appliques or cause micro-crazing in the glaze.
