This is a late Georgian toddy lifter dating from the early to mid 19th century, c1830. Toddy lifters, of course, were used to lift measures of toddy, a popular drink at the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, from a toddy mixing rummer to a drinking rummer.
The toddy lifter is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows some age related wear and tear.
The toddy lifter has a plain neck with an applied ring and a wide, disk-like thumb plate. The lifter flares into a plain tapered cylindrical bulb. It measures 17.5 cm (7 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
A good example of a late Georgian toddy lifter weighing in at 155g. (~ 5 1/2 oz.).
