Wrythen glass features a distinctive spiral or ribbed optical pattern created by twisting the molten glass inside a mould during the blowing process.

These items were typically hand-blown using lead or soda-lime glass formulations, often shaped with simple iron pontils that left rough marks on the base.

Authentication involves examining the pontil mark on the base, observing unevenness and tiny air bubbles within the glass, and checking for characteristic wear patterns.

Antique glass bottles can be displayed on windowsills to catch natural light or grouped on a sideboard to highlight their historical form and colour.

Wash gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive brushes, and ultrasonic cleaners to protect the fragile surface.
